HAMILTON, NY – The Tufts men's squash team faced off against Conn. College in the consolation round of the NESCAC Squash Championship and fell to the Camels, 7-2. The men fell by a similar score last weekend when they faced off against Conn. College.
Following the match with Conn. College the Jumbos had a 3:00 pm match with Hamilton scheduled to complete the consolation rounds of the tournament which were held at Colgate University.
Just like a week ago the Jumbos received wins in the first two positions from sophomore Aditya Advani (New Dehli, India) and junior Zach Schweitzer (Huntingdon Valley, PA). Advani saw his match in the first position go to four games, but he was able to secure the win over Brian Mullen, 11-3, 7-11, 11-7, 11-7. Playing in the number two position, Schweitzer also won a four game match, 8-11, 11-7, 11-8, 11-8.
Freshman Josh Lee (Seoul, Korea) played in the number three position, but wasn't able to top Hunter Bolling. In the number four position, junior Elliot Kardon (Weston, MA) scored 23 points across his three game loss. Sophomore Brandon Weiss (Phoenix, MD) played three close games in the number five position, but wasn't able to top his Camel counterpart, falling 11-9, 11-8, 11-9.
Forcing four games in the number six spot, junior Hugo Meggitt (Princeton, NJ) wasn't able to win over Sam Gervitz, 11-4, 9-11, 11-9, 13-11. Senior Jeremy Aronson (Amherst, MA) fell in the number seven position to his Conn. College opponent. Similarly, in the number eight position freshman Owen Elliott (New York, NY) had trouble with Ben Thaler and fell in three games. Freshman Danny Fischer (Lexington, MA) rounded out the lineup for the Jumbos, playing in the number nine position, but he was not able to secure a win.
The Jumbos followed this match with a 3:00 pm match with Hamilton to complete play in the consolation rounds of the tournament. The men will be back in action on February 5 when they travel to take on MIT at 7:00 pm. The following day they will pay a visit to Northeastern for an 8:00 pm start time.
