Sophomore Brandon Weiss won for the Jumbos in the opening round of the CSA Team Championships

BOSTON – The Tufts men's squash team opened up play in the College Squash Associations (CSA) Team Championships E bracket with a win over Boston University on Friday morning. The Jumbos received wins in the first through seventh positions to claim the win and advance to the semifinals.
Sophomore Aditya Advani (New Dehli, India) breezed through his match in the number one position, beating Chaiyatat Ben Bunjapamai, 11-7, 11-3, 11-3. Playing in the number two spot, junior Zach Schweitzer also had few problems, topping Lu Quan Tan, 11-3, 11-4, 11-6.
Also winning in three games was freshman Josh Lee (Seoul, Korea), beating Jonathan Chambers, 11-6, 11-3, 11-5, in the number three position. Junior Elliot Kardon (Weston, MA) saw his third game go to extra points, but was able to top his Terrier opponent in the number four position, 11-8, 11-6, 13-11.
Sophomore Brandon Weiss (Phoenix, MD) claimed a win for the Jumbos in the number five spot, topping Map Teeravithayapinyo, 12-10, 11-5, 11-7. In the number six slot, junior Hugo Meggitt (Princeton, NJ) dealt BU's Allan Chen a loss, 11-6, 11-5, 11-9.
Senior Jeremy Aronson (Amherst, MA) rounded out the wins for Tufts in the number seven position, playing the closest match of the day. His duel with Christopher Schwageri went to five games, but Aronson claimed the win, 11-8, 11-2, 10-12, 9-11, 11-9. Junior Jamieson Breig (Westport, CT) and freshman Austin Brush (Summit, NJ) played in the eighth and ninth positions, respectively, but weren't able to top their Boston University counterparts.
The Jumbos will now face the winner of the Northeastern and Haverford match on Saturday at 3:30 at Northeastern. Northeastern drew the number one seed in the E bracket, as the Jumbos are the number four seed. Haverford is the number two seed. The Jumbos fell to Northeastern earlier this season, 6-3, but were able to top Haverford, 6-3, about a month ago.
