BELMONT – Returning to their home courts for the first time this semester, the Tufts men's squash team topped visiting Boston College, 8-1, on Tuesday night at the Belmont Hill School. The Jumbos picked up wins in the first through eighth positions to earn the win.
Junior Aditya Advani collected a win for the Jumbos in the first spot, allowing his Eagle counterpart a mere five points over three games and winning 11-2, 11-1, 11-2. Freshman Braden Chiulli was nearly as dominant in the second spot, topping Christopher Tozzi, 11-2, 11-4, 11-2. In the third position, senior co-captain Elliot Kardon was able to beat Stevie Gleason, 11-5, 11-2, 11-1.
Taking the courts in the fourth position, freshman Sandeep Rishi won over Alexander Green in three games, 11-7, 11-3, 11-7. Junior Brandon Weiss was able to earn an 11-5, 11-2, 11-3 win over Colton Hardman in the fifth position. In the sixth spot, senior co-captain Hugo Meggitt beat William Hickey, 11-6, 11-7, 11-7.
Sophomore Owen Elliott dropped the first game to Robert Bohn in the seventh position, but won the next three games to earn the win, 9-11, 11-7, 12-10, 11-6. Freshman John Patrick picked up the last Jumbo win in the eighth position, playing a close three games with Elliot O'Brien, but winning all three, 11-9, 12-10, 11-9.
The lone Boston College win came from Robbie Fischer in the ninth position. Fischer dropped a game to Jumbo sophomore Danny Fischer but held on for the win, 11-2, 11-13, 11-2, 11-7.
The Jumbos move to 4-6 this season with the win. They have a big weekend ahead as they travel to take on top ranked St. Lawrence and Western Ontario on Saturday. The Jumbos will face the host Saints at 12:00 pm and will take on Western Ontario before that at 10:00 am.
