CANTON, N.Y. – The Tufts men's squash team took on #2 St. Lawrence on Saturday, but the Saints proved to be too much for the Jumbos, as St. Lawrence topped Tufts, 9-0. The Jumbos took on Western Ontario earlier in the day.
With the loss the Jumbos move to 5-7 on the year. St. Lawrence is now 10-1, with a lone loss to #1 Trinity.
Junior Aditya Advani took the courts in the first position, and scored 21 points, but it wasn't enough as he fell to Ibrahim Khan, 11-8, 12-10, 11-3. First-year Braden Chiulli took on Anderson Good in the second spot, but wasn't able to earn a win, falling 11-6, 11-7, 11-3. In the third position, classmate Sandeep Rishi took on Duncan Maxwell, but also wasn't able to top his St. Lawrence counterpart.
Senior co-captain Elliot Kardon played Christopher Fernandez in the fourth position, but was topped 11-3, 11-2, 11-5. In the sixth spot, junior Brandon Weiss was bested by the Saint's Sebastian Riedelsheimer in three games. Senior co-captain Hugo Meggitt took on Mateo Vargas in the sixth position, but fell, 11-5, 11-5, 11-1.
In the seventh position, freshman Alexander Goodrich was beaten by Seetreon Torres, 11-5, 11-3, 11-6. Classmate John Patrick took the courts in the eighth position, but fell to Kingsley Amoako, 11-2, 11-2, 11-5. Rounding out the Jumbos line up was sophomore Danny Fischer in the nine spot, who fell to Michael Edson, 11-7, 11-4, 11-8.
The Jumbos take the courts again on Tuesday evening when they travel to Northeastern for a 7:00 pm start. The Saints will be back in action Saturday when they travel to Hamilton for a 2:00 pm start.
