CAMBRIDGE – The Tufts men's squash team traveled over to Harvard to take on NESCAC rival Colby on Saturday afternoon, but the White Mules were too much for the Jumbos as the match ended 8-1 in Colby's favor. Junior tri-captain Aditya Advani was the lone Jumbo to win.
Advani took the courts in the first position for the Jumbos, and picked up a four game win over Colby's William McBrian, 11-4, 11-6, 5-11, 11-9.
In the number two position, CJ Smith was able to top Jumbo freshman Braden Chiulli in three games. Similarly, in the third position classmate Sandeep Rishi also fell to his White Mule opponent in three games. Senior tri-captain Elliot Kardon scored 22 points across three games, but fell to Patrick McCarthy in the fourth position (11-7, 11-5, 12-10).
Junior Brandon Weiss faced off with Yuga Koda in the fifth position, but Colby won in this position (11-4, 11-5, 11-4). In the sixth position, senior tri-captain Hugo Meggitt was toppd by Hugh Doherty in three games, 11-6, 11-6, 11-7. Freshman Alec Goodrich took the courts in the seventh position, but was beaten by Colby's John Eder, 11-8, 11-1, 11-3. Sophomore Owen Elliott and rookie John Patrick rounded out the Jumbos lineup in the eighth and ninth spots, respectively, but both Jumbos fell to their Colby opponents in three games.
The Jumbos took on Connecticut College on Sunday afternoon, but weren't able to win that match either. The men move to 5-10 on the season after the weekend matches. They will be back in action on Friday when they travel to Williams to compete in the NESCAC Championships.
