WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – In their last consolation match of the NESCAC Championships the men's squash team fell to Hamilton, 9-0. The match closed out play in the tournament for the Jumbos. They opened up with a 9-0 loss to Wesleyan and then fell to Connecticut College, 8-1, in their first consolation match.
First-year Braden Chiulli took the courts in the first position for the first time in tournament play but fell to Teddy Black in a hard fought five-game match (11-9, 6-11, 11-6, 6-11, 11-8). In the second position, classmate Sandeep Rishi faced off with Joshua Wolpert, but wasn't able to top the Continental (11-7, 11-7, 11-5). In the third position, senior tri-captain Elliot Kardon was topped in three games by Hamilton's Mac Pivirotto, 11-6, 11-4, 11-6.
Junior Brandon Weiss took on Marc Dudzik in the fourth position, but was bested in three games, 11-4, 11-6, 11-6. In the fifth spot, senior tri-captain Hugo Meggitt lost in three games to Peter Harrison, 11-7, 11-4, 11-7. Freshman Alec Goodrich scored 23 points across three games, but fell to his Continental opponent in the sixth position, 12-10, 11-7, 11-6.
Sophomore Owen Elliot played David Laub in the seventh position, but fell in three games, 11-4, 11-4, 11-8. Freshman John Patrick played in the eighth spot, but wasn't able to top Ted Nehrbas (11-9, 11-2, 11-2). Rounding out the Jumbos lineup was sophomore Daniel Fischer, but the Jumbo wasn't able to earn a win in the ninth position.
The Jumbos will be back in action when they compete in the College Squash Association's Team Championships Friday, February 20 through Sunday, February 22.
