Men's Soccer Tallies Commanding 3-2 Victory Over Connecticut College

Box Score

SOMERVILLE, Mass. - Notching its fourth straight victory to open up the 2015 season, the Tufts men's soccer team broke a second half tie with Connecticut College when junior Nathan Majumder scored his second goal of the match, lifting the Jumbos to a 3-2 victory.

Nathan Majumder tacked on two goals for the Jumbos, including the game-winner in the 84th minute

The Camels opened the scoring in the first half as Mark Leon took a ball in the left side of the box past Tufts goalkeeper Scott Greenwood in the 4th minute. The Jumbos fought to follow suit, as they took back-to-back shots in the 12th minute with Majumder having his shot blocked at the top of the box followed by senior Jason Kayne's attempt that was pushed wide right by Connecticut College's (2-2, 0-2) keeper, Austin DaCunha.

Tufts (4-0, 2-0) got on the board soon after as senior Rui Pinheiro lobbied a pass from about 30 yards out in the 19th minute, finding sophomore Connor Coleman in the box who headed the ball in and tied the game up with his first goal of the year.

The Camels scored their second of the match in the 30th minute, as Chris Lockwood nailed a shot, assisted by Daniel Adair, to put Connecticut College back on top, 2-1.

That lead would not hold for long, as Majumder found the back of the net for the Jumbos in the 31st minute, less than a full minute following the previous goal, tying the game up a two a piece.

Tufts saw chances throughout this contest, including in the 35th minute on a corner kick that saw players shuffling in the box and multiple Jumbos attempting to pull free for a shot. Again in the 57th minute, Kayne kicked a line drive toward DaCunha, who made a leaping stop to his left to push the ball out of play.

The game saw its final goal tallied in the 84th minute when Majumder made it by his defender on the right side and was able to tap the ball past DaCunha for the gamewinning goal, his second of the game and third of the season.

DaCunha made seven saves in the game for the Camels as Tufts went on to outshoot Connecticut College 14-2 in the match.

Both Greenwood and DaCunha played all 90 minutes in net for their respective teams.

The Jumbos return to action tomorrow afternoon as they take on Trinity (Conn.) back at Kraft Field, slated to begin at 2:30 p.m.
