Men's Squash Loses 7-2 at MIT in Second-Semester Opener

Alec Goodrich earned one of the wins versus MIT

CAMBRIDGE - Playing a contest for the first time since December 6, the Tufts Men's Squash team resumed its 2015-16 season with a 7-2 loss at MIT on Wednesday evening.

The Jumbos dropped to 6-4 with the loss, just their second in their last eight matches. MIT is now 17-6 overall. The host Engineers entered the match with a College Squash Association ranking of 25th while Tufts is at #27.

The Tufts victories came at #7 and #8, both in five sets. Sophomore Sandeep Rishi was down 2-0 versus MIT's Peter Griggs before rallying to win at #7 with 11-5, 12-10 and 11-2 scores. Sophomore Alec Goodrich prevailed in a back-and-forth match at #8. He was up 1-0 and 2-1 before Marina Crowe forced a fifth game which Goodrich won 11-4.

In the ninth match, Jumbo freshman Matt Memmo won 16-14 in the second game to even the match at 1-1 before he lost 11-9 and 11-6. Freshman Alan Litman was very competitive in his three-game loss at #2 (11-9, 11-9, 11-9) and classmate Brett Raskopf scored 24 points in his #5 defeat (15-13, 11-9, 11-2).

The Jumbos play at NESCAC match at Colby on Saturday.
