CAMBRIDGE – The No. 27 Tufts men's squash team picked up a huge win over No. 20 Colby, 6-3 at MIT on Saturday evening. The win was the second for the weekend for the Jumbos, as they topped Boston College on Friday night to open up their season.
With the win the Jumbos move to 2-0. They continue a busy weekend of opening play, taking on Bryant and Brandeis on Sunday afternoon at 12 pm and 2 pm, respectively.
Freshman Raghav Kumar picked up his second win of the weekend, taking down Hugh Doherty in five games in the the third position, 12-10, 7-11, 6-11, 11-8, 11-8. Classmate Connor Wind picked up another close five game win for the Jumbos in the fifth position, beating Jason Brodo, 5-11, 14-12, 10-12, 11-7, 11-7.
In the sixth position, sophomore Cameron Ewan was the lone Jumbo to win in just three games, downing Sam Hitt, 11-7, 11-3, 11-6. Sophomore Aidan Porges won in the seventh position for the Jumbos, picking up a 11-5, 11-3, 9-11, 11-8, win over Andrew Swapp. In the eighth position sophomore Imran Trehan picked up his first win of the season with a four game win over Matthew Epstein, 11-13, 11-9, 11-9, 11-4. Rounding out the Jumbos lineup was junior Sandeep Rishi in the ninth position, as he won in five games over Andrew Beacham, 7-11, 3-11, 11-4, 11-8, 11-5.
Junior Braden Chiulli faced off with William McBrian in the first position, but fell in four games, 11-4, 8-11, 11-5, 11-7. Sophomore Alan Litman took the courts in the second position but wasn't bale to beat Patrick McCarthy, 11-8, 7-11, 11-6, 11-4. The last Mule win came in the fourth position as William Pepi topped Jumbo sophomore Brett Raskopf, 11-9, 11-3, 11-9.
The Jumbos take the courts again on Sunday when they face off with Byrant at 12 pm and then Brandeis at 2 pm.
