Camels Edge Men's Squash in NESCAC Championship Consolation Match

http://www.nescac.com/SID/logos/NESCAC/champ/NESCAC-CHAMP-M-SQUASH.jpg MIDDLETOWN, CT - The Connecticut College Men's Squash team earned a 5-4 win over Tufts in a NESCAC Championship consolation match played at Wesleyan University on Saturday.

The Jumbos entered the weekend as the #9 seed in the conference tournament and the Camels were the 11th seed. Both teams lost their opening-round matches played at Trinity College on Friday. Tufts is #27 and Connecticut College is #29 in the most recent College Squash Association rankings.

Earning wins for Tufts were freshman Alan Litman in the #2 spot, freshman Imran Trehan in the sixth match, sophomore Alex Goodrich at #7 and sophomore John Patrick in the ninth match. Litman and Goodrich both swept their matches. Trehan worked out of a 1-1 tie to take his match with 11-6, 11-9 victories. Patrick went five for his win, including a 17-15 final in the fifth.

Freshman Jumbo Ben Raskopf lost a back-and-forth #5 match in five games. He staved off defeat with an 11-8 win in the fourth game before losing to Camel Niccolo Premutico 11-9 in the fifth game. In the #1 match, Conn's Brendan McClintick had a four-game win over Tufts sophomore Braden Chiulli (11-5, 11-9, 2-11, 11-9).

With the win Connecticut College improved to 3-12 while Tufts dropped to .500 at 7-7 with the loss.

The Jumbos have another consolation match on Saturday versus Hamilton to conclude their stay at the conference championship.
