Box Score The Tufts University men's soccer team got back on track today with a 1-0 win over Hamilton. The win brings the Jumbos to 7-1-1 overall and 4-1-1 in NESCAC play. It drops the Continentals to 4-4-1 and 2-4 in NESCAC.
Joseph Braun scored the lone goal of the game 14 minutes into the second half for the Jumbos. Zachary Trevorrow crossed the ball from the left side of the field to Braun inside the 18-yard box. Braun maneuvered his way free of the defenders and fired a shot to the upper left corner of the net.
The Continentals' most promising scoring opportunity came in the 64th minute as Joe Harrington ripped a shot from 10 yards out that was blocked by the Tufts defenders. Harrington quickly gathered the loose ball and fired a second shot that deflected just outside the left post.
The Jumbos opened the second half hot by putting four shots on goal in the opening minutes. Braun, Brett Rojas, Jack Delaney, and Max Jacobs all got a look, but Hamilton's goalie saved each one.
The Jumbos put more offensive pressure on the opposing goalie, registering a 15-11 edge in shots, six to four in shots on goal, and nine to four in corner kicks. Keeper Bruce Johnson recorded four saves on the afternoon.
Braun became the 11th different Tufts player to score a goal this season and the 14th to register a point.
Tufts hosts Middlebury next Saturday at 2:30 p.m. Hamilton plays Amherst next Sautrday as well.
