Brett Raskopf had a convincing win in the third match

NORTHAMPTON - The Tufts University men's squash team wrapped up play at the 2017 NESCAC Championship with a 7-2 consolation win over Connecticut College on Saturday afternoon at Smith College.

The victory is the 100th of Tufts men's and women's squash head coach Joe McManus' career with the Jumbos. This was his 47th victory with the men's program and he has 53 with the women's team.

The Jumbos (13-7), who entered the conference tournament as the #9 seed, won two of their three matches during the weekend. They lost 7-2 versus #8 seed Wesleyan in the opening round on Friday, then took their first consolation match on Saturday versus 10-seed Hamilton 6-3. Head coach Joe McManus' Jumbos are currently ranked #28 nationally.

Connecticut College (3-13), the #30 team in the College Squash Association national poll and the 11th seed in the NESCAC tournament, lost their opening round match to sixth-seed Amherst. The Camels will face Hamilton College in another consolation match later on Saturday.

Six Jumbo wins versus Conn came in straight games. Sophomore Brett Raskopf won 11-6, 11-2, 11-8 against Camel Daniel Reisman in the third match. Junior Jumbo Sandeep Rishi matched that effort allowing just 16 points in an 11-3, 11-5, 11-8 win over Winston Simone at #8.

The most competitive match was at #2 where Tufts freshman Raghav Kumar overcame a 2-0 deficit against Connecticut College's John Dunham. Final scores were 9-11, 11-13, 11-3, 15-13, 11-4.

Both of the Camel victories came in four games. In the top match, Matt Little defeated Tufts' Alan Litman after losing the first game (6-11, 11-9, 11-3, 11-5). The #5 match between Camel Michael Rodriguez and Jumbo Aidan Porges was tied 1-1 before Rodriguez prevailed by an 11-8, 11-13, 11-8, 11-3 scoring line.

Tufts freshman Connor Wind and Connecticut College's Samuel Piller engaged in a very competitive and very consistent #6 match with Wind winning 13-11, 13-11, 13-11.

The Jumbos return to action with a match at #21 MIT on Friday at 6 pm. The Camels travel to Hamilton College for a tri-meet including Bard next Saturday.
