No. 27 Men's Squash Bested by No. 28 Bowdoin, 6-3, on the road Saturday Afternoon

Aidan Porges won a five game battle in the sixth spot for the Jumbos.

BRUNSWICK, Maine – Three Jumbos picked up wins, but it wasn't enough as the No. 28 Bowdoin men's squash team edged the No. 27 ranked Tufts men's squash team, 6-3, on Saturday afternoon.  The match was the second of a three-match Maine weekend for the Jumbos. 

The loss moves the Jumbos record to 6-7 this year.  Bowdoin is now 3-8 this season. 

Junior Cameron Ewan took on Gannon Leech in the fifth position and was able to pick up a four game win, 11-8, 11-9, 7-11, 11-8.  Junior captain Aidan Porges picked up a win in the sixth position with a five game battle with Uday Khanna.  Porges won the first game in extra points, but then Khanna won the second.  Porges picked up an 11-5 win in the third game, but Khanna answered with an 11-6 win in the fourth game.  Porges won the fifth game, 11-9, to secure the win for the Jumbos.  The last Tufts win came in the eighth position, as freshman Salik Awan dropped the first game to Callen Fullerton, but came back to win the next three for the win, 9-11, 11-8, 11-5, 11-5. 

Sophomore Connor Wind won the first game in the fourth position, but wasn't able to win another one against Tyler Shonrock, falling, 9-11, 11-7, 11-8, 11-8.  In the ninth position freshman Aman Navani won the first game in extra points and the third game, but Arjun Dravid picked up wins in the second and fourth games and then an 11-9 win in the decisive fifth game. In the second position, junior Alan Litman won a marathon of a second game, beating Satya Butler, 18-16 in the second game.  But, Butler won the first game, and was able to win in the third and fourth. 

Sophomore Raghav Kumar rook on Ian Squires in the first position and won the third game, but ended up falling in four games, 11-9, 11-4, 5-11, 11-9.  Junior captain Brett Raskopf took on George Cooley in the third position, but was bested 11-7, 13-11, 11-5.  In the seventh position freshman Daniel Hutt battled Drew Clark but fell, 11-6, 11-1, 11-9.  

The Jumbos are back in action on Sunday when they wrap up their Maine trip with a trip to take on No. 24 Colby.  Bowdoin plays again on Sunday when they host Brown for a 12 pm start.
