Raskopf's Win Not Enough as Men's Squash Falls to Middlebury Saturday Afternoon

Senior Brett Raskopf won convincingly in the ninth position

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. -  Senior co-captain Brett Raskopf picked up a win for the No. 23 Tufts men's squash team, but it wasn't enough as the Jumbos fell to No. 20 Middlebury on the road on Saturday afternoon.

The Jumbos are now 2-2 after the setback.  The win was the first of the year for the Panthers, who are now 1-1.

Raskopf need just three games for the win, picking up a convincing 11-3, 11-3, 11-3 win over Alex Giles in the ninth position.

Junior Raghav Kumar won the third game after being down two games in the first position, but he wasn't able to complete the comeback, falling 11-8, 11-8, 5-11, 11-1.  In the third position freshman Marco Rodriguez took the second game from Nick Bermingham, but the Panther picked up wins in the next two games to claim the four-game win (12-10, 10-12, 11-9, 11-5).

Freshman Konrad LaDow faced off with Justin Ghaeli in the second position, and the first game required extra points, but Ghaeli picked up the win (12-10, 11-6, 11-3).  In the sixth spot freshman Will Dewire played two very close games with John Epley, taking the second game to extra points.  But, Epley managed the 11-9, 12-10, 11-6 win.

Senior Alan Litman faced off with Teddy Best in the fourth position, but Best picked up the win, 11-4, 11-4, 11-4.  In the fifth spot, freshman Dillon O'Shea took on Middlebury's Wiatt Hinton, but it was Hinton that won in three games (11-3, 11-7, 11-9).  Junior Connor Wind faced off with Thomas Wolpow in the seventh position and sophomore Salik Awan took on Nate Moll in the eighth position.  But, both Jumbos fell in three games to their Panther opponents.

The Jumbos are back in action on Sunday when they travel to Williams for a 3 pm start with the Ephs.  Middlebury plays again next Saturday with a trip to Wesleyan for a 3 pm start with the Cardinals.
