Despite Strong Performances Men's Squash Falls to Amherst, 6-3, Friday Evening

Freshman Sanjeefe Jevabalan posted one of the Jumbos' three wins

AMHERST - The 20th-ranked Amherst College men's squash team edged #24 Tufts University 6-3 on Friday evening.

The Jumbos fall to 3-6 this year while Amherst picks up their fifth consecutive win and improves to 7-4 on the season.

After hard-fought losses by freshman Kunal Valia at #1 (10-12,11-3,11-1,11-6) and senior Raghav Kumar at #2 (10-12,7-11,11-5,11-6,11-7) the Jumbos got their first win in the third position when freshman Sanjeeve Jevabalan defeated Amherst' s Adam Lichtmacher in three sets with a scores of 11-6,11-4,14-12.  Freshman Vivaan Jaikishan and sophomore Will Dewire would also pick up wins in in the seventh and ninth positions. 

Competitive matches were also won by the Mammoths in the #4,#5, #6 and #8. Sophomore Konrad LaDow pushed Terrace Wang to four sets (11-9,7-11,11-8,11-9) in the fifth slot, while sophomore Dillon O'Shea scored twenty points in his three set loss in the sixth slot.  

The Jumbos are excited to return to action tomorrow at 2 pm when they host to Connecticut College in their brand new home facility.  Amherst will take a day off before hosting Weselyan and Williams on Sunday.
