MEDFORD - The Tufts University men's squash team earned their third sweep of the season with a 9-0 victory over Boston College on Wednesday evening. The Jumbos improve to 5-7 on the season and are ranked 24th in the national polls.
Freshman Kunal Valia defeated Ryan Ashmore 11-2, 11-2, 11-3 in position one and senior Raghav Kumar allowed only four points in his three set victory at #2. Last week's NESCAC Player of the Week, freshman Jeyabalan Sanjeev, played in the third position and picked up his sixth consecutive win with a three set victory over William Langdon.
Sophomore Dillon O'Shea, junior Salik Awan and senior Connor Wind all contributed to the Jumbos sweep with three set victories in the fourth, fifth and sixth positions, respectively. Senior Amun Sahrawat turned in an impressive 11-0 win in the first set at #7 and completed his victory with 11-1, 11-5 scores in the second and third set. Both sophomore Vaughan Siker in position eight and freshman Cyrus Illick at #9 allowed only nine points in their wins while rounding out the Jumbos perfect sweep.
Tufts will return to action for two mid-week matches next week as they face #15 Brown University on Tuesday (Feb. 11) at 6:00pm followed by #1 Harvard University on February 12th at 5:00pm. Following the busy week the Jumbos will head to Bowdoin University for the NESCAC Championships starting on February 14th.
