PHILADELPHIA – Senior co-captain Raghav Kumar of the Tufts University men's squash team won a match at the 2020 College Squash Association (CSA) Individual Championships hosted by the University of Pennsylvania on Friday.
Playing in the Molloy Cup (B division) East bracket, Kumar lost his opening round of 16 match to Saksham Choudhary from host Penn 11-5, 11-8, 11-6. That dropped Kumar into the consolation bracket quarterfinals where he defeated Quinn Udy from Hobart in five games 10-12, 11-5, 11-8, 9-11, 11-9. The victory was the first by a Jumbo at the CSA Individual Championships since Aditya Advani in 2014.
Kumar will next play Jacob Bassil from Williams College in the consolation semifinals on Saturday at 11:55 am. The match is expected to be webcast at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nmx_Tm8neug&feature=youtu.be.
This is the second time in his career that Kumar has competed at the CSA Individual tournament, including 2018 at George Washington University.
