PHILADELPHIA – Senior co-captain Raghav Kumar of the Tufts University men's squash team lost in the consolation round semifinals on Saturday to finish his stay at the 2020 College Squash Association (CSA) Individual Championships.
Playing in the Molloy Cup (B division) bracket, Williams College freshman Jacob Bassil defeated Kumar in the consolation semis 11-8, 11-9, 12-10. Bassil advances to the consolation final versus Justin Ghaeli from Columbia on Sunday at 9:30 am. All of this weekend's matches are being held at the University of Pennsylvania.
Kumar had lost his opening round of 16 match at the tournament 11-5, 11-8, 11-8 against Saksham Choudhary from Penn on Friday. The Jumbo then became the first Tufts men's player to win a match at the CSA Individual competition since 2014 with his five-set victory against Hobart's Quinn Udy (10-12, 11-5, 11-8, 9-11, 11-9) later in the day on Friday.
This was the second time of his career that Kumar was in action at the CSA Individual Championships. He also played in 2018 at Geoge Washington University.
