MEDFORD – Led by senior Danielle Page, the Tufts University women's cross country team finished in nith place at the NCAA Championship Race on Saturday at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Kentucky.
Page finished the six-kilometer race in third place out of 292 total finishers with a time of 20:30.1, earning two points for the Jumbos. As a team, Tufts finished just one point shy of the eighth-place Hope College team and 17 points ahead of Pomona-Pitzer, who was the winner of the men's race.
This was the 12th NCAA appearance for Tufts overall. It is the sixth top 10 finish at NCAA's for the program.
Senior Anna Slager had her best career finish in her third NCAA Championship today, coming in 23rd place with a time of 21:35.6. Page and Slager earn All-American honors.
Junior Meghan Davis was the next Jumbo to cross the finish line in 68th place with a time of 22:09.0. Junior Lauren Pollak was the fourth Tufts runner to finish, finishing in 133rd place with a time of 22:38.6. Senior Tara Lowensohn rounded out the Tufts scorers with a 220th place finish with a time of 23:18.7.
Senior Hannah Neilon and junior Kate Bidgood finished in 256th place and 276th place respectively, with Neilon putting up a time of 23:41.7 and Bidgood coming in with a time of 24:05.2.
Page improved upon her sixth-place finish at the 2019 NCAA Championship, making this season's third-place finish the best by a Tufts competitor in history, beating out Leslie Crofton's fifth-place finish in 2000. Page's performance is also the fourth top-10 finish ever at NCAA's for the Jumbos, which includes her 2019 performance.
The Jumbos finish off the season with six top-three finishes as a team, including their first-place finish at last week's NCAA Regional Championship.
