MEDFORD – The Tufts University men's squash team fell to Harvard University 9-0 on Tuesday after the Jumbos started the 2021-22 season with three straight victories.
Tufts entered the match as the #18 ranked team in the nation while Harvard came in at #2. Senior Marco Rodriguez (pictured), juniors Vivaan Jaikishan and Shloke Sahay, and freshmen Kerwin Teh and Oliver Eielson played their matches competitive, all falling by 3-1 scores. Rodriguez played to a competitive 4-11, 11-9, 6-11, 6-11 loss to Harvard's John Ho in the seventh position.
Both Jaikishan and Sahay won their first match against their opponents by a score of 11-8, but Jaikishan was defeated 2-11, 1-11, 5-11 after the first-game victory and Sahay would play the rest of his matches competitively, falling 7-11, 9-11, and 6-11.
The Jumbo freshmen, Teh and Eielson, also played well in their matches, with each of them earning a victory by a score of 11-8. Teh would come up short against Harvard's Adam Corcoran 5-11, 5-11, and 5-11 in the remainder of his matches, while Eielson - playing in the 10th match that did not count towards team scoring - was defeated by George Crowne 6-11, 8-11, and 4-11 in the rest of his matches.
Tufts will return to action on Friday, December 3, hosting conference opponent Bates College at 5 PM.
