WORCESTER, MA – Tufts rolls past Clark University on Wednesday evening 6-0 at Granger Athletic Complex.
Mikey Brady scored a brace on the day for Tufts to help them secure the win. He scored his first goal in the 27
th minute when Tufts broke out onto the counterattack. A ball was slipped through to Mateo Baragagna who slid one across to Zach Siegelstein. Siegelstein pushed it once more to
Mikey Brady on the back post for the one-time finish. This made the game 2-0 in favor of the Jumbos.
Brady scored his second goal of the game with a long shot from about 25 yards outside the box.
Mark Huynh one the ball back in the midfield with a tackle and used his footwork to escape the pressure and find Brady in the middle for his strike that made the game 4-0.
The first goal of the game came in 20
th minute off a set piece. Tufts took a corner short to Feigen who whipped one into the box and bounced around to find Zach Siegelstein at the back post to finish it away making the game 1-0.
Ben Verner scored his first goal of the year as
Mark Huynh made a great defensive play by stripping the Clark defender of the ball in the back line and was able to play a ball into the box to Verner for the near post finish making the game 3-0.
In the 62
nd minute
Mateo Bargagna let a shot go that was deflected wide by the keeper. He followed up and got to the loose ball and played one back across the box to
Luke Randolph at an open back post for the tap in making the score 5-0 Jumbos.
Anthony Bhangdia joined the scoring in the 77
th minute when a ball was played into the box. The Cougars were unable to clear the ball out cleanly and it ended on the foot of Bhangdia who had a one-time smashing finish into the back of the net putting the final goal on the board for a 6-0 Tufts victory.
The Jumbos put on 34 shots in the game while the Cougars attempted 4. Tufts also won the corners battle with 10 of their own while Clark earned 0 corners.
Erik Lauta for the Jumbos made one save in the match while opposite him Andrew DiStefano made eight saves.
Tufts improves to 5-2-4, 2-2-3 while Clark is now 2-11-1, 0-4-0. The Jumbos look onto their next match away at Bates for some NESCAC action on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
