Tufts' Second Half Storm Earns 3-0 Win Over Maine Farmington

FARMINGTON, ME – The Tufts men's soccer team got the victory on the road 3-0 at the University of Maine Farmington on Sunday afternoon.

The scoring didn't come until the second half of play in this match. In the 56th minute Jumbo Sean Traynor led a counterattack forward. He slipped a ball through to Ethan Feigin who used a body faint to get open and let a shot go. Feigin's shot was stopped with a kick save from Jonah Sautter, however it was only saved right out to Traynor who was able to one time it into the back of the net. Traynor gave the Jumbos the first goal of the game and they were ahead 1-0.

Just three minutes later in the 59th minute of play, Max Cook whipped in a corner kick to the near post where he found Taylor Feinberg. Feinberg had a beautiful flick on the ball to the back post where it tucked away nicely into the net. Tufts added onto the lead, and it was 2-0.

The Jumbos put one more on the board late in the game during the 88th minute of play. They took a quick free kick that played Feigin down the line into the corner. Feigin put in a cut back cross to Liam Gerken who put a shot on frame, but it was redirected late by Anthony Bhangdia stopping the keeper in his tracks with the ball going into the back of the net. That would secure the win for the Jumbos 3-0.

Tufts put on a total of 30 shots in the game while UMaine Farmington attempted three. The Jumbos also earned 20 corners in the match while Farmington was unable to get any corners throughout the game. Erik Lauta for the Jumbos made two saves in the game while opposite him Sautter made 11 saves.

Tufts improves their record to 6-2-5 while Umaine Farmington is now 6-5-2. The Jumbos now prepare for their next match this coming Saturday against NESCAC opponent Middlebury at 3 p.m. at Bello Field.
