MEDFORD, MA (December 2, 2022) -- Sophomore
Kerwin Teh scored a huge five-game victory for the No. 16 Tufts University men's squash team, helping the Jumbos to a 7-2 win over No. 19 St. Lawrence University in action from the Tufts Squash Center Friday evening.
Teh started his match with an emphatic 11-1 win on the championship court, but Alejandro Moncada rallied back to tie the match at one with an 11-8 win. Teh would outlast Moncada 12-10 in the third set but once again Moncada evened the match with a 11-7 win. The fifth set was an all-time classic, as both players denied match balls before Teh scored back-to-back points at 13-13 to take the five-set win.
That win was one of just many for the Jumbos in the 7-2 win, as Tufts dominated the bottom of the ladder Friday.
Youssef Ezzo continued his strong start to his Tufts career with a three-game win over Harry Robson with scores of 11-3, 11-5 and 11-7 at No. 4, while
Sanjeev Jeyabalan topped Alexander Scott at No. 5 in three games with scores of 11-5, 11-6 and 11-7.
Oliver Eielson nipped a late rally to defeat Vladimir Iglesias 11-9, 11-5, 7-11 and 11-7 at the No. 6 position, and
Jared Chin battled back to win a four-set contest with scores of 8-11, 11-9, 11-1 and 11-6 at No. 7
At the bottom of the latter,
Vivaan Jaikishan needed only three games to pick up an 11-6, 11-7 and 11-7 at No. 8, while
Rohan Valia was sound at No. 9 with an 11-5, 15-13 and 11-4 win. St, Lawrence picked up wins at the top two positions, as Lewis Anderson bested
Harry Charlton 11-6, 11-6, 14-16 and 11-9, and Inwoo Lee defeated Kunal Vallia 11-5, 13-11 and 11-4.
The Jumbos (1-2) will have a little rest before taking on No. 10 Dartmouth College Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. in the Tufts Squash Center.
