CAMBRIDGE, MA (December 8, 2022) -- First-year
Jared Chin pulled out a clutch five-game win at No. 7, clinching a big 5-4 road win for the Tufts University men's squash over No. 17 MIT in action from Zesiger Center Squash Courts.
The Jumbos took a 2-0 lead early in the match on victories by
Kerwin Teh at No. 3, as he rolled to an 11-4, 13-11 and 11-7 win. The victory for Teh was his third straight victory on the season, as he moved to 3-2 on the campaign.
Vivaan Jaikishan pulled out a big win at No. 8, outlasting Mitav Nayak 11-8, 2-11, 11-13, 11-3 and 11-7 to rally from down a game. Jaikishan moved to 4-1 on the season with the victory, while
Sanjeev Jeyabalan also posted a five-game win at No. 5 as he rallied from two games down toe earn a 7-11, 3-11, 11-5, 11-8 and 11-8 win. Jeyabalan is now 4-1 on the season.
After MIT made it 3-1,
Rohan Valia upped his season mark to 2-1 with a three-set win over Saechow Yap with scores of 11-8, 11-9 and 11-5. Junior

Harry Charlton, 3-1 in the top position to cut the Tufts lead to 4-2.
MIT would trim its deficit to one after a win at No. 2 as Tom Hogan outlasted
Kunal Valia, but Chin would come up big for the Jumbos. Playing Matt McManus, Chin dropped the first game 11-7 but rallied to tie the match with an 11-8 win in the second stanza.
Chin kept the momentum going with an 11-3 win in the third, but Chin was bested 11-7 in the fourth. With the team match in the balance, Chin fought off an early deficit to clinch the win for Tufts with a 11-9 win in the fifth. It was a huge win, as Collin Wen came from behind to knock off
Youssef Ezzo in five games with scores of 7-11, 7-11, 11-7, 11-3 and 11-7.
The Jumbos will be right back in action tomorrow night, hosting No. 6 Trinity College at 5 p.m. in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) action from the Tufts Squash Center in the semester finale.
