NEW GLOUCESTER, Maine – The Tufts University women's cross country team defeated host Bates College at the Bates Super XC Shootout on Saturday in week two of the season.
The Jumbos earned a winning score of 26 with the second, third, fourth, eighth and ninth finishers in the 5,000-meter race. Bates finished with a 29 score. A total of 39 runners finished the race.
Leading Tufts was first-year
Alexandra Dean who was second overall in a 19:13.6 time. She was followed by classmates
Elizabeth Donahue in third (19:14.2) and
Samantha Fellman (19:15.4) in fourth.
Also scoring for the Jumbos today was first-year
Jaclyn Turner in a 19:38.2 mark for eighth place and junior
Lauren Pollak at ninth overall at 19:40.7.
Bates was led by senior Jillian Richardson, who won the race handily with an 18:35.0 time.
