WALTHAM, MA (January 15, 2023) -
Tim Chou and
Armaan Sikka both won twice as the Jumbo men's swimming & diving team took a 136-51 victory at Brandeis on Sunday.
The meet was the first since December 10 for Tufts, who defeated the Judges in 10 of 12 events and improved to a 3-1 record as a team. Today was a rescheduled date from the original November 20 contest that was postponed.
Chou swam 22.04 seconds in the 50 freestyle and 1:57.11 in the 200 butterfly to land his two victories. Sikka took the 200 freestyle early in the meet with a 1:44.63 time and later won the 100 free in 47.57 seconds.
The Jumbo divers had strong performances in the one-meter event, led by
Jeremy Lawrence's winning score of 337.20. Brother
Zach Lawrence was second at 323.10 and
Cameron Yuen took third (301.20).
Eric Lundgren had a 1:56.22 win in the 200 individual medley,
Vedant Bapna won the 200 backstroke in 1:57.95 and
Willie Xu took the 200 breaststroke (2:10.41). Lundgren was also second in the 100 free behind Sikka at 47.70 seconds.
Mixed foursomes competed in 400 medley and free relays. Chou and Sikka added another victory to their day joining Claire Brennan and Jillian Cudney to win the 400 free relay in a 3:22.84 time.
Jack Madden and
Sean Carr were part of the winning 400 medley relay that had a 3:33.93 finish with Liz Sutton and Lara Wujciak from the women's team.
Sam Dienstag of Brandeis dominated the distance freestyles with wins in the 500 (4:44.47) and 1,000 (9:41.97).
Tufts travels to Bates for a NESCAC meet next Friday starting at 5:30 pm.
