MEDFORD, MA (January 19, 2023) -- The No. 14 Tufts University men's squash squad had no problems Thursday afternoon in a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) match with No. 25 Bowdoin College, rolling to its first 9-0 sweep of the season in play from the Tufts Squash Center.
The Jumbos (4-4, 2-1 NESCAC) had no problems Thursday, winning all but one game on the day through the nine spots. No. 1 player
Harry Charlton won his second straight match with a 3-1 win with scores of 11-8, 11-5, 5-11 and 11-6.
Kunal Valia picked up a 3-0 victory at No. 2 with scores of 11-5, 11-2 and 11-4, picking up his first victory of the 2022-23 season, while
Kerwin Teh rolled past Henry Somerby at No. 3 with scores of 11-5, 11-6 and 11-2. With the win, Teh evened his record at 4-4 on the campaign. Sophomore
Youssef Ezzo picked up a 3-0 win as well at No. 4 after earning scores of 11-6, 11-5 and 11-5.
Sanjeev Jeyabalan won his fifth straight match Thursday, upping his record to a team-best 6-1 with a 3-0 win over Joseph French at No. 5. Jeyabalan won with scores of 11-9, 11-2 and 11-6.
Oliver Eielson tallied his third win of the season with an 11-7, 11-4 and 11-4 win at No. 6, and
Vivaan Jaikishan topped Justin Barr at No. 7 with scores of 11-2, 11-2 and 13-11.
At No. 8,
Shivin Kumar picked up his first win with scores of 11-3, 11-5 and 11-2, and
Shloke Sahay also tallied his first victory this season with an 11-8, 11-2 and 11-5 win to round out the scores. Tufts is now 2-2 on the year at home.
Tufts will return to action on Saturday, January 21 on the road, heading to Williamstown, MA for NESCAC play with No. 15 Williams College.
