MEDFORD, MA (January 27, 2023) -- The Tufts University men's squash team, ranked No. 15 in the latest College Squash Association rankings, had no trouble Friday afternoon in the start of a busy weekend for the Jumbos as they knocked off No. 27 Wesleyan University 9-0 in play from the Tufts Squash Center in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) action.
The Jumbos (6-5, 4-2 NESCAC) rotated the lineup around on Friday, but they showed their depth as Tufts won all but one match 3-0 on the day. Senior
Harry Charlton rolled to an 11-3, 11-5 and 11-1 win at No. 1 over Nimai Kini from the Cardinals, while
Kunal Valia was a straight game winner with scores of 11-3, 11-3 and 11-4 over Abhinav Gupta. At No. 3,
Sanjeev Jeyabalan also knocked off John Sutherby 11-3, 11-8 and 11-3 while
Vivaan Jaikishan knocked off Shanay Sanghavi 11-6, 11-7 and 11-8 at No. 4.
Tufts saw
Rohan Valia win 11-3, 12-10 and 11-5 at the No. 5 position, and
Krish Shah outloasted Ethan Yan in five games at No. 6 with scores of 11-8, 5-11, 8-11, 11-8 and 16-14.
Shivin Kumar was a straight game winner after posting an 11-7, 11-3 and 11-1 win, and
Shloke Sahay topped Jack Lungstrum 11-3, 11-5 and 11-8 at No. 8.
Sam Charlton would also pick up a win at No. 9 Friday, topping Zachary Idinopulos 11-8, 11-7 and 11-7.
The Jumbos will honor senior
Vivaan Jaikishan,
Sanjeev Jeyabalan,
Shloke Sahay and
Kunal Valia Saturday morning prior to their 11 a.m. home match against Hamilton College.
