MEDFORD, MA (January 28, 2023) -- The Tufts University men's squash team, ranked No. 15 in the College Squash Association rankings, defeated No. 24 Hamilton College Saturday morning 9-0 in play from the Tufts Squash Center in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) action.
The Jumbos (7-5, 5-2 NESCAC) made some changes from Friday's lineup and had to battle in some matchups the sweep of the Continentals. At No. 1
Harry Charlton won in four sets over Tobey Suratt, 11-5, 7-11, 11-3 and 11-6, while
Kunal Valia also needed four sets over No. 2 Tate Suratt with scores of 11-1, 11-3, 8-11 and 11-7.
Youssef Ezzo won in straight sets over Waleed Nisar at No. 3 11-5, 11-8 and 11-1 with
Sanjeev Jeyabalan winning over William Rice in straight sets as well 11-8, 11-4 and 11-2 at No. 4.
At the No. 5 position,
Oliver Eielson from Tufts defeat Ashby Howard after dropping the first set, 9-11, 11-4, 11-3 and 11-6 and Vivann Jaikishan rebounded after dropping the third set to beat Atreyus Bhavsar in four sets at No. 6 with scores of 11-5, 11-7, 9-11, and 11-6. The number 7, 8, and 9 spots all won in straight sets, as
Jared Chin at No. 7 won 11-8, 11-6, and 11-4.
Mustafa Ayaz picked up the victory over Tate Burgin at No. 8 by way of 11-9, 11-5, and 11-0.
Shloke Sahay outlasted Nicholas Carabatsos in the No. 9 match with scores of 11-4, 11-4, and 11-8.
The Jumbos will continue their busy weekend as they will travel to Lewiston, ME and square off with No. 19 Bates College at 1 PM in more NESCAC action.
