LEWISTON, ME (January 29, 2023) -- The No. 15 Tufts University men's squash team completed a busy weekend with its third victory in as many days Sunday, knocking off No. 19 Bates College 7-2 in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) play from the Bates Squash Center.
The Jumbos (8-5, 6-2 NESCAC) were able to pick up quick three game victories at No. 2 through No. 4 Sunday, while also capturing a straight set victory at No. 8 by
Jared Chin.
Kerwin Teh needed only 22 minutes to post a 3-0 win at No. 3, posting an 11-7, 11-7 and 11-8 victory. Teh moved to 7-4 on the season.

Youssef Ezzo also made quick work of his opponent at No. 4, as he allowed just 14 points all match in a 11-4, 11-2 and 11-8 win for his third straight victory.
Kunal Valia was also a victor at No. 2 as he posted his fourth straight win of the season with a 15-13, 11-5 and 11-2 win over Jonathan Walker.
At No. 8, Chin topped Garrett Wenberg 11-7, 11-8 and 11-5 to get to 6-5 on the season. At No. 5
Sanjeev Jeyabalan broke open a 1-1 match with two straight game wins to post a 11-8, 5-11, 11-5, 11-5 victory. Jeyabalan is now 10-2 on the season, becoming the second player on the squad with double-digit wins in 2022-23.
The team's leader in win this season,
Vivaan Jaikishan, continued his outstanding play this year with his seventh straight victory after topping Jairaj Singh 7-11, 11-3, 11-9 and 11-4 at No. 7 for his 11th win.
At No 9,
Rohan Valia played a marathon with Sultan Hashmi, needing 59 minutes to earn a 3-2 victory. Valia and Hashmi alternated wins over the first four games before Valia won the fifth game 11-7 for the win with scores of 13-11, 6-11, 11-6, 8-11 and 11-7.
Bates would earn wins at the No. 1 and No. 6 spots, as
Harry Charlton was topped by Alec Spiro in five games with a score of 10-12, 10-12, 11-4, 11-9 and 11-2.
Oliver Eielson also fell in five tight games, 11-9, 7-11, 11-13, 11-9, 11-7.
The Jumbos have now won four straight and six of the last seven matches. Tufts will travel across town to take on No. 1 Harvard University at 5 p.m. Tuesday, February 7 in its final match before the NESCAC Championships.
