HARTFORD, CT (November 19, 2023) -- The No. 12 Tufts University men's squash team traveled on the road to Hartford to take on No. 5 Trinity College Sunday, but the Jumbos were missing key pieces and fell 9-0 to the Bantams in action from the Trinity Squash Center.
Tufts did get a 3-2 win at the exhibition spot as
Krish Shah rallied for a 10-12, 11-8, 5-11, 11-4, 11-5 win over Will Jones. At No. 1, Trinity's Mohamed Sharaf knocked off
Harry Charlton 11-4, 11-4 and 11-4 at the top spot, while
Sanjeev Jeyabalan had to more up due to injury and was bested at No. 2 11-2, 11-6 and 11-3 by Joachim Chuah.
Sophomore
Jared Chin battled at No. 3 but was topped 11-3, 11-3 and 11-3, and
Rohan Valia also moved up to No. 4 falling 11-7, 11-6 and 11-2 to Benedek Takacs. First-year
Nachiket Desai forced extra points in the third game against Marawan El Borolossy but he was topped 11-4,11-6 and 12-10 at No. 5.
The most competitive match of the day for the Jumbos was at No. 6, as first-year
Rutva Samant battled for 40 minutes against Khamal Cumberbatch before dropping an 11-9, 11-9 and 11-7 decision. At No. 7,
Shivin Kumar dropped a 3-0 decision to Ahmed Ismail, while first-year
Emerson Wang was bested at No. 8 11-6, 11-5 and 11-7. In the ninth position,
Rohan Bhatia played in his first career match and was topped 11-5, 11-3 and 11-4.
Tufts will battle Chatham University Saturday, December 2 at 11:30 a.m. at Cornell University.
