MEDFORD, MA (December 8, 2023) -- The Tufts University men's squash team, currently ranked No. 12 in the latest College Squash Association (CSA) rankings, was able to roll past No. 30 Connecticut College 9-0 Friday evening inside Tufts Squash Center in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) play.
Tufts was able to play to its depth on Friday night, as six players were able to pick up their first victory of the 2023-24 season, while two first-years in
Aarav Gill and
Rohan Bhatia also chalked up their first triumphs.
At the top position, senior
Harry Charlton moved to 3-2 on the season with a solid 11-8, 11-3, 11-8 win, while
Kerwin Teh picked up his first victory of the young campaign with a straight-game win over Samuel Lovejoy 11-9, 11-5 and 11-6. The No. 3 match saw Tufts'
Jared Chin top Henry Pelletier 11-9, 11-5, 11-8 for his third win of the campaign, and first-year
Emerson Wang moved up to No. 4 for an 11-5, 11-0, 11-3 win over Ryan Mach.
Shivin Kumar was tested at No. 5 singles but he still prevailed over Noah Fish 11-7, 11-5 and 11-6, and Gill moved to 1-0 as a member of the Jumbos squad with an 11-3, 11-5, 11-8 win at No. 6. Fellow newcomer Bhatia was victorious at No. 7, as he posted an 11-4, 11-5 and 11-7 win over Peter Russell, and
Krish Shah cruised to an 11-6, 11-2 and 11-3 victory at the No. 8 spot.
Sam Charlton posted the most dominant win of the evening, earning a win in 11 minutes with scores of 11-2, 11-2 and 11-1.
The Jumbos will have a quick turnaround, taking on No. 18 Amherst College Saturday at 1 p.m. inside the Tufts Squash Center in more NESCAC play.
