Crimson knock off Tufts Men's Squash Tuesday

CAMBRIDGE, MA (February 7, 2023) - The No. 15 Tufts University men's squash team fell 1-8 in non-conference play at 1st-ranked Harvard College. The Jumbos are now 8-6 overall while the Crimson improve to 12-0 on the year.
 
Sophomore Youssef Ezzo in the fourth position picked up the only Jumbo win for the afternoon. In a thrilling 5 set match, Ezzo dropped the first set 4-11 and responded in the second set winning 11-5. The third set was won by the Crimson before Ezzo was able to win the last two sets by a score of 11-9 both times to win the match.
 
The rest of the Jumbos would fall in straight sets as Junior Harry Charlton in the first position would lose 11-5, 11-4, 11-2. In the second position, Senior Kunal Valia's four game win streak ends as George Crowne defeats Valia 11-4, 11-2, 11-4, while Sophomore Kewin Teh was defeated as well 11-4, 11-3, 11-4. Both Senior Sanjeev Jeyabalan (fifth position) and sophomore Oliver Eielson (sixth position) would fall to their respective opponents in valiant efforts.
 
In the seventh position, Freshman Jared Chin battled in the third set against Neel Joshi after dropping the first two but was unable to comeback and force a fourth set. Senior Vivaan Jaikishan and Liam Rotzoll in the eighth positions had the closest match besides Ezzo as the match was closely contested throughout but in the end Rotzoll was able to close out Jaikishan with scores of 11-7, 11-9, and 11-6. The ninth position match saw Freshman Rohan Valia battle Ayush Menon in the first and third sets but fought until the end in an 11-7, 11-2, 11-6 victory for Harvard.

The Jumbos are back in action this Saturday, February 11th, as they compete in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) championships and will enter as the No. 3 seed. The Jumbos will square off with the No. 6 seed Middlebury College Panthers at 3 PM at Williams College with winner moving on to play in the semifinal round on Sunday February 12^th at 10:30 AM.
