MEDFORD, MA (January 27, 2024) - The No. 12 ranked Tufts University men's squash team battled NESCAC rival No. 9 Williams College Saturday afternoon at the Tufts Squash Center on the Campus of Tufts University. Williams bettered Tufts 6-3 by winning the last 5 of 7 matches.
The Jumbos (8-4)Â got their three wins from senior
Harry Charlton, freshman
Rutva Samant , and sophomore
Rohan Valia. Charlton in the No. 2 spot took on Williams Nick Agger, the match needed five games but Charleton was able to get the edge in the final set  11-7, 11-4, 8-11, 4-11, 11-6. For Charlton, the win marks his sixth on the season.Â
At No. 7 and 8 Sumant and Valia got the win's by besting their opponents in straight sets. Sumant defeated Pierce Henderson 11-5, 11-7, 11-6, winning his eighth match on the season which tied for second best on the team with Junior
Youssef Ezzo who was defeated in the No. 4 set by Jack Lee  7-11, 12-10, 11-6, 11-3.
Kerwin Teh started the day at the No. 1 spot against Will Evans, Teh went down early losing the first two sets but was able to battle back winning the third set but the win wasn't enough as he was defeated in four matches 12-10, 11-5, 7-11, 11-8. At the No. 3 spot,
Sanjeev Jeyabalan fell short in four matches to Andrew Minnis 11-4, 12-14, 11-3, 11-5. At the No. 5 spot,
Nachiket Desai was bested by Asher Leavy in four matches 8-11, 11-8, 11-7, 11-7.
At the No. 6 spot sophomore
Jared Chin saw an early 2-0 deficit but was able to fight back and take the third and fourth set from Williams Alex Akbari. The fifth and final set was back and forth but Chin came up short ending his seven-match win streak, 11-9, 11-9, 5-11, 8-11, 12-10. At the No. 9 spot freshman
Aarav Gill was bested in four matches by John Nicholson 11-6, 12-10, 5-11, 11-6.
The Jumbos men's squash team will return to action on Sunday, January 28, at 1 pm to take on No. 20 Middlebury College at the Tufts Squash center in Medford Mass.  Â
