MEDFORD, MA (November 16, 2024) -- Sophomore
Emerson Wang picked up a thrilling five-game win at No. 7 for the Tufts University men's squash team, but No. 4 Trinity College was able to earn an 8-1 win over the Jumbos in action from Tufts Squash Center Saturday afternoon.
Wang twice rallied for game deficits, as he posted a 10-12, 11-7, 12-14, 11-9 and 11-4 win over Marawan El Borolossy at the No. 7 position. It was Tufts' first win of a individual match over Trinity since 2022 when
Sam Charlton earned a win for the Jumbos.
Senior
Oliver Eielson earned a game against Danial Izham at No. 9 but eventually dropped a 11-9, 11-3, 7-11 and 11-5 decision. Sophomore
Aarav Gill played well but fell to Joachim Chuah at No. 1 with scores of 11-7, 11-4 and 11-6, while
Santiago Medina Carrillo fell at No. 2 11-4, 11-2 and 11-4.
Rohan Valia pushed Mateo Restrepo at No. 3 before being bested 11-7, 11-7 and 11-3, and
Jared Chin also played well at No. 4 in an 11-8, 12-10 and 11-8 loss to Benedek Takacs.
Shivin Kumar moved up and played No. 5 on Saturday, dropping an 11-4, 11-5 and 11-7 match, and first-year
Ali Tarek also picked up a game at No. 6 in a 14-16, 11-2, 11-6 and 11-9 defeat to Huzaifa Ibrahim.
Mustafa Ayaz worked into the lineup for the first time this season, falling at No. 8 11-1, 11-4 and 11-6.
The Jumbos will be back in action Sunday afternoon at noon, traveling to Cambridge for a tilt with No. 5 Harvard University.
