NEW YORK (11/22/2024) -- The Tufts University men's squash team pushed No. 8 Columbia University Friday night, but two competitive matches in the middle of the ladder went the Lions way in a 6-3 final score line.
Tufts was a winner at the No. 2 position, as sophomore
Nachiket Desai was a 3-0 winner with scores of 11-7, 11-2 and 13-11. First-year
Santiago Medina Carrillo outlasted Thomas Soltanian in five games 11-8, 8-11, 3-11, 11-3 and 11-5 at No. 3 singles, while sophomore
Emerson Wang was a 3-1 winner at No. 9 with scores of 11-3, 11-13, 16-14 and 11-4.
At No. 4 singles,
Kerwin Teh battled hard against Zach Nam but he couldn't pull the victory as he fell 6-11, 11-6, 10-12, 11-3 and 11-4
Imad Athar knocked off
Jared Chin 3-1 at No. 6 with scores of 11-4, 11-5, 6-11 and 11-8, while all other scores were 3-0 wins for the Lions.
Arhan Chandra defeated Tufts'
Aarav Gill 11-8, 11-7 and 11-6 at the No. 1 position, while
Rohan Valia was topped by Paarth AMbani at No. 5 singles 11-8, 12-10 and 11-7.
Rutva Samant dropped an 11-6, 11-6 and 13-11 decision, while
Shivin Kumar fell at No. 8 11-6, 11-9 and 11-7.
Tufts will be back in action in New York Saturday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. against the University of Rochester.
