NEW YORK (November 24, 2024) -- The Tufts University men's squash team got back into the win column on Saturday afternoon, knocking off No. 15 University of Rochester 6-3 in action from SL Green Street Squash Center in New York.
The Jumbos (2-3) dominated the middle of the lineup on Saturday afternoon, winning the four spots from No. 3 to No. 6 while also earning victories in No. 8 and No. 9. First-year
Santiago Medina Carrillo knocked off Dhirren Rajarathinam in four games 12-10, 12-10, 8-11, 11-7, while senior
Kerwin Teh also picked up a 3-1 win at No. 4 with scores of 11-5, 11-3, 6-11 and 11-8.
Rohan Valia topped Thomas Valderrama 11-7, 11-7, 7-11, 11-5 at No. 5, and
Jared Chin tallied a 3-0 win at No. 6 over Jacob Koeppel 11-9, 11-8 and 11-7.
Shivin Kumar moved to 3-2 on the season with a 3-0 win at No. 8, earning an 11-7, 11-7 and 11-7 win over Vandrick Inman-Benavente, while sophomore
Emerson Wang stayed undefeated in 2024-25 with a 3-1 win at No. 9 with scores of 11-2, 11-8, 9-11 and 12-10.
Sophomore
Aarav Gill fell 11-8, 11-5 and 11-6 at the top spot, while sophomore
Nachiket Desai was bested by Omar Zakaria 7-11, 11-8, 12-10 and 13-11.
Rutva Samant also was knocked off 3-1 by Arnav Mandhana 11-3, 6-11, 14-12 and 11-9.
The Jumbos will get some time off before hosting Cornell University Saturday, December 7 at 1 p.m. inside Tufts Squash Center.
