MEDFORD, MA (February 28, 2024) - The No. 12 ranked Tufts University men's squash team will head to Philadelphia P.A. to compete in the CSA (College Squash Association) ) National Collegiate Team Championships. The Jumbos will take on No. 5 Yale University in the round of 16 on Thursday, February 28. The Jumbos will compete for the Potter Cup, only the top 12 schools in the nation get the chance to compete for this prestigious trophy.

Looking at the Jumbos
The Jumbos (12-6) come into this weekend after facing off against Trinity College in the NESCAC (New England Small College Athletic Association) Finals. The Jumbos came up short against Trinity but were able to fend off Williams College for the first time in program history in the semifinals of the tournament to claim the last spot in the CSA Team National Championship and compete for the Potter Cup.
The Jumbos are led by sophomore
Jared Chin, who has been stellar for the Jumbos all season long. He currently holds a record of 12-5 and is 7-3 in his last 10. Chin has performed great in both the No. 5 and No. 6 spots all season long, he is 5-2 from the No. 5 spot and 6-2 from the No. 6 spot. Freshman
Rutva Samant, Samant has a record of 11-4 on the season and has not been defeated at the No. 7 spot all season as he holds a record of 5-0. Samant is currently 8-2 in his last ten matches.
Senior Harry Charleton has also been great for the Jumbos all season. Against Williams in the NESCAC semifinals, Charleton's win pushed the Jumbos past the Ephs to decide the match and send the Jumbos to the finals. Charleton is currently 10-8 on the season and is 6-4 in his last 10 matches. Charleton has been great from the No. 2 spot as he holds a 7-5 record on the season. Junior
Youssef Ezzo is 9-6 on the season for the Jumbos, he has performed great from the No. 4 spot for the Jumbos as he holds an 8-6 record from that spot. Sophomore
Rohan Valia has a record of 9-5 on the season and is 7-3 in his last 10. He has a 5-4 record in the No. 7 spot.
Freshman Emmerson Wang and
Aarav Gill have been great options for the Jumbos all season. Gill is currently 8-3 on the season and is 7-3 in his last ten matches played. Gill is 5-1 from the No. 8 spot for the Jumbos. Wang is 7-5 on the season and is also 7-3 in his last ten matches. Wang is 4-3 from the No. 9 spot.
The Jumbos hold a winning percentage of .580 on the season. The No. 6, 7, and 8 spots have been the best for the Jumbos as they are 12-6 from the sixth spot with a .667 winning percentage, at the No. 7 spot they are 13-5 with a winning percentage of .722 and at the eighth spot they are 14-4 with a .778 winning percentage.
Looking at the Bulldogs
Yale is currently coming off a loss against Trinity on February 9. Yale has beaten some of the best squash teams in the country this season, including No. 2 ranked Princeton University and No. 7 ranked Cornell University. The Bulldogs are coached by Lynn Leong.
The Bulldogs are led by junior Nikhil Ismail he is 10-1 on the season his only loss came against No. 4 ranked Harvard back on January 19. Sophomore Tad Carney is 8-2 on the season and senior Brian Leanord is 8-3 on the season.
Rest of the Field
Trinity College will be the No. 1 seed in the tournament as they are the only squash team in the nation that is undefeated. Princeton University is the No. 2 seed, University of Pennsylvania is the No. 3 seed, and Harvard is the No. 4 seed. All four of those schools received first-round byes. The winner of Tufts and Yale will take on Harvard in the quarterfinal.
