MEDFORD, MA (February 3, 2024) - The No. 13 Tufts men's squash team played in their last match in NESCAC play Saturday afternoon defeating No. 26 Bates College 7-2 at the Tufts Squash Center in Medford Mass. on the campus of Tufts University.
The Jumbos (10-4) took over from the very start of the day, winning the first five matches of the day. At the No.1, junior
Kerwin Teh was able to defeat Alex Spiro in four sets 5-11, 11-8, 11-2, 11-3. At the No. 2 spot, senior Harry Charleton bested Labeeb Ali 11-5, 11-6, 11-3 in three sets recording the first of five sweeps by the Jumbos on the day. At the No. 3 spot, freshman
Rutva Samant swept his match against Nicolai Boe 11-7, 11-8, 12-10. At the No. 4 spot, sophomore
Rohan Valia won his match in four sets against Ashton Monteiro 11-6, 4-11, 11-5, 11-4.
At the No. 5,
Aarav Gill was able to best his opponent in three sets 11-3, 11-8, 11-7. At the No. 6 spot, the Bobcats saw their first victory of the day. Freshman
Emerson Wang was able to force a fifth set against Maks Celm but came up short losing in five sets. At the No. 7, spot junior
Oliver Eielson was able to put the Jumbos back on the board defeating Max Good in three sets 14-12, 11-8, 11-6.
At the No. 8 spot, senior
Krish Shah was able to secure a sweep of Tad Koenigsbauer 11-4, 11-3, 11-5. At the No. 9 spot, senior Sam Charleton was bested in four sets to Philip Han 11-6, 11-7, 7-11, 11-8.
The Jumbos will play their last regular season match Tuesday, February 6, against squash powerhouse No. 4 Harvard University at the Tufts Squash Center in Medford Mass.
