MEDFORD, MA (February 6, 2024) - The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has honored those individuals and teams that stood out both academically and athletically during the 2023 cross country season, and both Tufts University squads are included.
In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction individually, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale and finished in the top-25 percent of their respective regional championship meet. For head coach
Kristen Morwick's women's team, that included first-year
Sophia Carpenter (undecided), graduate student
Meghan Davis (bio-med engineering), sophomore
Lexi Dean (chemical engineering) and sophomore
Grace Ogden (undecided).

Joel Williams' men's team earning the distinction are junior
Ivan Appleton (English), sophomore
Luke Brennan (computer science), sophomore
Quinn Hampson (mechanical engineering), senior
Ryan Proulx (computer science) and senior
Walter Wagude (computer engineering).
For the team All-Academic honors, schools must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period, and compiled a team score at their respective regional championship meet. The Tufts men, who were second at the 2023 NCAA Division III East Regional back in November, carry a 3.52 grade point average. The Tufts women were fourth at the Regional and have a 3.61 GPA.
