PHILADELPHIA, PA (March 1, 2024) - The No. 12 ranked Tufts University men's squash team faced off against No. 9 Dartmouth College Friday morning at the Arlen Specter US Squash Center in Philadelphia P.A. in the consolation bracket of the CSA National Collegiate Team Championships.
The Jumbos (12-8) lost to the Big Green 5-4, the Jumbos competed hard the whole day as the competition came down to the final match of the day. The Jumbos dropped the first three matches of the day but were able to come back with wins of their own. Junior
Youssef Ezzo got a win against Ekam Singh at the No. 3 spot, as he beat him in straight sets 9-11, 4-11, 8-11. Freshman
Rutva Samant also won in straight sets as he defeated Ned Gildea at the No. 6 spot 10-12, 5-11, 5-11.
At the No. 9 spot freshman
Emerson Wang stood tough against Rana Thakkar as he was able to defeat him in four sets 13-15, 4-11, 14-12, 9-11. Sophomore
Rohan Valia tied up the match at four apiece late in the competition as he defeated Felix Feldman at the No. 7 spot in four sets 2-11, 2-11, 11-4, 7-11.
At the No. 8 spot freshman
Aarav Gill won the third and fourth set to push the match to the final set but he was defeated in five by Callan Venkatesan 11-6, 11-6, 5-11, 1-11, 11-9. At the No. 5 spot sophomore
Jared Chin competed hard by winning the second and third sets over Quintin Campbell, he was defeated in five sets losing the last three 11-7, 6-11, 5-11, 11-7, 11-6.
In the final match of the day at the No. 4 spot, freshman
Nachiket Desai pushed his match to a fourth set after winning set three over David Rubin but fell in the fourth set 11-9, 11-8, 9-11, 12-10.
The Jumbos will continue to play in the consolation bracket as they have a match Saturday, March 2, time and the opponent is TBA.
