PHILADELPHIA, PA (March 1, 2024) - The No. 12 ranked Tufts University men's squash team faced off against No. 11 Western Ontario University Saturday morning at the Arlen Specter US Squash Center in Philadelphia P.A. in the consolation bracket of the CSA National Collegiate Team Championships.
The Jumbos (12-9) played in their final match of the season today as they were bested 6-3. The Jumbos got wins from the bottom of the flight today. At the No. 6 spot sophomore
Rohan Valia defeated Griffin Manley in four sets 11-8, 11-4, 9-11, 11-9. Valia finishes the season with 11 wins. At the No. 7 spot freshman
Aarav Gill faced off against Ben Boulanger. Gill dropped the first set but stormed back winning the next three sets as he bested Boulanger in four sets 11-13, 12-10, 11-5, 11-4. Gill finishes the season with nine wins. Freshman
Emerson Wang competed in the No. 8 spot against Josh Kay. The match needed five sets but Wang was able to come away with the victory. Wang finishes the season with nine wins.
At the No. 3 spot, junior
Youssef Ezzo battled hard as he won the second and went on to win the fourth set to take Antonio Mendes to the fifth and final set. Ezzo was bested in the fifth set 4-11, 11-9, 4-11, 11-8, 10-12. At the No. 5 spot freshman
Rutva Samant squared off against Amin Khan. Samant won the first set and fourth set but was bested in the fifth set 11-5, 5-11, 3-11, 11-6, 10-12.
The Jumbos had a great season this year, their 12 wins are the most since 2016-17 when they amassed a 14-win season. They made it to their first NESCAC final in program history and beat eight teams inside the CSA Top 20 also maintaining a top 20 ranking all season long.
