ATLANTA, GA (March 23, 2024) - The No. 15 ranked Tufts University Women's Tennis team continued action in Atlanta Georgia this morning as they took on No. 6 ranked Emory University. The Jumbos fell to the Eagles 8-1. The match was played at the Emory Tennis Courts at Emory College.
The Jumbos (2-5) were able to grab their only win of the day at the No. 3 doubles match as sophomores
Steffy Jullian and
Lucy Mitchell clinched an 8-6 victory over Yanire Marte and Izzy Antanaviciusat. At the No. 1 doubles match seniors
Zoe Kava and
Rebecca Lim fell short to Ana Cristina Perez and Emily Kantrovitz 8-4. At the No. 2 doubles match sophomore
Stephanie Woodbury and freshman
Natalie Hu were bested by Ana Cristina Perez and Emily Kantrovitz 8-6.
The Jumbos were swept by the Eagles in singles matches, the Jumbo's best opportunity to win in singles play came at the No. 1 match as Kava won the first set 7-6 (6) but dropped the next set 5-7 in the final set 0-1 (7) to Kantrovitz. The No. 2 singles would clinch the victory for the Eagles as Lim was bested by Cristina Perez 6-7 (4), and at the No. 3 singles match, Mitchell was bested by Ilayda Baykan 2-6, 2-6.
At the No. 4 singles match Hu was defeated by Iris Berman 0-6 1-6, at the No. 5 singles match Jullian fell to Marte 0-6, 3-6, and at the No. 6 singles match sophomore
Nikki Kintiroglou was defeated 3-6, 3-6.
Up next for the Jumbos is non-conference foe Babson College. The Jumbos will play the Beavers on Friday, March 29, in their first home match at Voute Courts on the campus of Tufts University. The match will start at 1 P.M.
