MEDFORD, MA (April 13, 2024) - The No. 11 Tufts University men's tennis team aced both of their matches Saturday morning and evening for the first time outside on the Voute Courts on the campus of Tufts University. First, they defeated No. 44 Colby College 8-1 then in the night cap they defeated Skidmore College 9-0.
Match 1: Jumbos 8 Mules 1:
The Jumbo's only deficit of the day came at doubles against the Mules, junior
Vuk Vuksanovic and sophomore
Alex Ganchev were bested by Jake Cohen and Sam Henry in a tiebreaker at the No. 1 doubles match 7-8 (4). At the No. 2 doubles, juniorÂ
Derin Acaroglu and
Lachie Macintosh defeated Paul Dandler and Sandeep Alapati 8-1. At the No. 3 doubles senior
Corey Marley and sophomore
Sacha Maes defeated Aidan Kwong and Joey Barrett 8-1.
With the Jumbos up 2-1 after doubles, it was time to compete in singles play. Vuksanovic started things off at the No. 1 singles as he defeated Barrett 7-5, 6-3. At the No. 2 singles sophomore
Javier Gonzalez defeated Cohen 7-6 6-2 (2). At the No. 3 singles, Ganchev defeated Henry 6-2, 6-4.Â
First year
Garv Bahl defeated Paul Dandler 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 4 singles. At the No. 5 singles sophomore
Andrej Djokic defeated Alapati 6-3, 6-2. Finally, at the No. 6 singles, Maes defeated Sriram Das 6-0, 6-0.
Match 2: Jumbos 9Â Thoroughbreds 0:
The Jumbos continued their dominance in the second match against Skidmore as they swept them in doubles and singles. At the No. 1 doubles Vuksanovic and Ganchev defeated Nika Mori and Louis Bourn 8-3. At the No. 2 doubles Macintosh and Acaroglu defeated Kyle Lundberg and Adel Aissaoui 8-3. At the No. 3 doubles Maes and Marley defeated Harrison Gradin and Yuval Goodman 8-1.
At singles action, Macintosh defeated Bourn 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 1 singles. At the No. 2 singles, Acaroglu bested Mori 7-6, 6-3 and at the No. 3 singles, Garv defeated Goodman 6-3, 6-0.
At the No. 4 singles, Djokic defeated Griffin Biernat 6-3, 6-2. At the No, 5 singles Maes defeated Lundberg 6-3, 6-1, and at the No. 6 spot first yearÂ
Takehiro Shuda defeated Harrison Gradin 6-1, 6-3.
Up next the Jumbos men's tennis team will square off against Bowdoin College tomorrow April, 14 at home on Voute Courts. The Match will begin at 10 AM.
