MEDFORD, MA (April 28, 2024) -- The No. 11 Tufts University men's tennis team won their ninth straight match against No. 17 Amherst College 8-1 in the Jumbos regular-season finale Sunday Morning at Voute Courts on the campus of Tufts University.
The Jumbos (14-5) were able to breeze through doubles to start the match. At the No. 1 doubles sophomore
Alex Ganchev and junior
Vuk Vuksanovic bested Kobe Ellenbogen and Andreas Sillaste 8-4. At the No. 2 doubles juniorsÂ
Derin Acaroglu and
Lachie Macintosh defeated Sujit Chepuri and Spencer Leung 8-5. At the No. 3 doubles sophomore
Sacha Maes and senior
Corey Marley clinched the doubles sweep by besting Rex Harrison and Edred Opie 8-7 (4).
The Jumbos took an early 3-0 lead in the match going into singles play. At the No. 6 singles, first-year
Garv Bahl bested Ethan Ohm 6-3, 6-0. At the No. 4 singles, Acaroglu defeated Leung 6-3, 6-3 to clinch the match for the Jumbos.  At the No. 1 singles, Vuksanovic bested Sillaste 6-4, 2-6, 1-0 (9).Â
The Jumbo's only loss of the day came at the No. 5 singles as Ganchev was bested by Harrison 2-6, 3-6. At the No. 3 singles, Macintosh was able to defeat Ellenbogen in three sets 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (4). At the No. 2 singles sophomore
Javier Gonzalez defeated Opie in three sets 6-4, 5-7, 1-0 (1).
Up next the Jumbos will compete in the NESCAC Championships Quarterfinal in Amherst, MA. The first scheduled match will be played on Friday, May 3.
