AMHERST, MA (January 17, 2025) -- The No. 11 Tufts University men's squash team shook off Wednesday's defeat to No. 10 Dartmouth College in a big way on Friday afternoon, winning the first eight matches against No. 16 Amherst College in a through 8-1 win over the Mammoths in action from Davenport Squash Courts in Amherst, MA.
The Jumbos (4-5) would dominate the run of play for the majority of the match, as
Youssef Ezzo evened his season mark at 2-2 with an 11-7, 11-4, 11-2 win over Matthew Granovsky at the No. 6 spot. The wins kept coming for Tufts as first-year
Ali Tarek won in straight games with scores of 11-8, 11-4 and 11-7 at No. 8, as he improved to 3-2 on the campaign.
Sophomore
Aarav Gill would help Tufts sweep the opening wave as he topped Zi Tao Yu 11-9, 11-6, 7-11 and 11-8 at the No. 2 position to make the team score 3-0. Junior
Rohan Valia earned the first two sets in his match with Flynn Venmore before the Mammoth player was forced to retire at No. 4, pulling Tufts to within one match victory of the team win. That would come moments later for the Jumbos, as sophomore
Emerson Wang topped Walter Huffman 11-8, 11-4 and 11-7 at No. 9 to clinch the victory for the visitors. It was his sixth

Jared Chin chalked up a win at No. 5 over Fares Khairy 11-8, 12-10, 11-9 for his third straight victory, bringing his season mark to 5-4. Sophomore
Nachiket Desai needed just three games to turn in an 11-9, 11-4 and 11-4 victory over Abhimanyu Gupta at the top spot, and
Rutva Samant rallied from down two games to post a reverse sweep at No. 7 with scores of 6-11, 8-11, 11-7, 11-5, 11-2.
The lone win for the Mammoths (7-4) came at No. 3, as Joseph Toth fended off a rally from
Kerwin Teh to post an 11-2, 12-14, 12-10, 7-11, 11-8 win.
The Jumbos will now travel MIT this Wednesday, January 22 at 5 p.m. for a match-up with the No. 18 Engineers.
