MIDDLEBURY, VT (January 25, 2025) -- The No. 11 Tufts University men's squash team moved over .500 for the first time since winning its opening match of the season Saturday, winning its third straight with a decisive 7-2 win over Middlebury College in action from the Bostwick Family Squash Center.
The Jumbos (6-5) never trailed in the match, controlling action from the beginning. Sophomore No. 1
Nachiket Desai won his second straight match with a strong three-game victory over Nathan Feinstein with scores of 12-10, 11-6 and 11-6 at the top spot. Classmate
Aarav Gill also needed just 27 minutes to cruised to his third win at the No. 2 spot this year, knocking off Will Lichstein 11-8, 11-3 and 11-3. Senior Kerwin Teh got back into the win column and raised his season record to 5-4 with a three-game win over Kian Kardestauncer 11-6, 11-2 and 11-5.
At No. 5,
Jared Chin picked up his team-leading seventh win on the year at No. 5, as he bested Caleb Boateng 11-8, 9-11, 9-11, 11-3 and 11-6 in an hour long marathon. Chin is now 7-4 on the campaign. Senior
Youssef Ezzo chalked up a win in his first match of the season at No. 6, as he earned a four-game victory over Theo Kogan 11-8, 11-4, 9-11, 11-7.
Tufts also picked up a pair of wins in the final two positions of the ladder, as
Shivin Kumar upped his mark at No. 8 to 4-1 this season with a clean 11-6, 11-3, 11-3 win over Aditya Kothari. The final win of the day was at No. 9, where first-year
Ali Tarek improved to 5-2 this season with a 13-11, 11-3, 11-8 win over Ronin Kaplan.
Middlebury (8-5) picked up wins at No. 4 and No. 7, as Gabriel Feinstein was an 11-9, 11-9, 14-12 winner at the fourth spot over Tufts'
Rohan Valia. At the No. 7 position, Charlie Clifford topped
Rutva Samant 11-7, 11-5 and 12-10.
Tufts will be right back in action Sunday afternoon, battling No. 12 Williams College in Williamstown, MA at noon.
