WILLIAMSTOWN, MA (January 26, 2025) -- The No. 12 Williams College men's squash team held off the No. 11 Tufts University Jumbos Sunday, posting a 5-4 win in action from the Simon Squash Center.
Williams led 4-2 in the match, but Tufts (6-6) rallied to pull within one at 4-3. The winning point for the Ephs would come at No. 7, as William Newton edged
Rutva Samant 3-1 with scores of 11-9, 10-12, 11-4 and 11-4. Minutes later, Tufts sophomore
Aarav Gill won a five-game marathon, as he finished with scores of 8-11, 11-5, 9-11, 11-6 and 11-6 at No. 2 over Nick Agger.
Tufts also picked up wins at the No. 6, No. 8 and No. 9 spots along with an exhibition win for
Emerson Wang. At No. 6,
Youssef Ezzo tallied a five-game win with scores of 11-6, 7-11, 11-7, 9-11 and 11-9.
Shivin Kumar also needed five games to earn his victory at No. 8, knocking off Causey Green 12-14, 11-8, 11-9, 8-11, 11-4. First-year
Ali Tarek was also a winner at No. 9, as he topped Rafay Syed 9-11, 11-6, 11-5 and 11-7.
Wang was a winner in the exhibition match 11-4, 11-6 and 11-5 over John Nicholson.
Williams chalked up wins at the No. 1 spot, adding wins at No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5 as well.
Tufts is back in action on Friday, January 31 at 5 pm to battle Bates College at the Tufts Squash Center.
