MEDFORD, MA (November 16, 2025) – As expected, the Tufts University men's cross country team was announced today as an at-large qualifier for the 2025 NCAA Division III Championship following their runner-up performance at the NCAA East Regional yesterday.
For the third straight season, the Jumbos placed second at the East Regional on Saturday in Hopkinton, New Hampshire. With this Regional runner-up finish and the team's NESCAC Championship victory on November 1, there was no suspense over whether the Jumbos would receive one of the nation's 22 at-large berths into the DIII national championship. Today's announcement makes it official.
The 2025 NCAA Championship Race will be held next Saturday (Nov. 22) at the Roger Milliken Center in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Converse University is hosting the NCAA Championships, and the men's race will start at 10:00 AM Eastern time.
The NCAA team berth is the fifth in a row and 20th overall for Tufts Men's Cross Country. In the 19 prior appearances, Tufts has posted six national top 10 finishes with a best of fifth place in 2005. They were 17th last year.
All seven Jumbos who ran yesterday earned All-Region honors for finishing in the top 35 individually. Senior

Quinn Hampson placed fifth, senior
Calvin Cummings finished 10th, junior
Jonah Reisner took 11th, junior
Avery Smart ran 21st, junior
Sam Kurian finished 26th and senior
Luke Brennan was 31st. Senior
Cullen McCaleb and junior
Harris Gulbransen did not run at the Regional, but have been key contributors all season.

Aouchiche and Brennan have run in three previous NCAA Championship races for the Jumbos, Cummings and Hampson have two previous NCAA starts and Reisner and Gulbransen have one NCAA appearance.
