ITHACA, NY (November 22, 2025) -- The No. 11 Tufts University men's squash team dominated the middle and bottom of the ladder against No. 18 Western Ontario on Saturday at Cornell University, knocking off the Mustangs 7-2 in the second of three matches this weekend for the men's squad.
Tufts (2-2) pulled .500 on the season, thanks to the dominant play from the No. 4 through No. 9 spots in the lineup.
Rohan Valia was a clean 3-0 winner at No. 4 for the Jumbos with an 11-2, 11-2 and 11-7 win over William Znidarec, while senior
Jared Chin fought off a rally by Liam McKay to earn an 11-9, 13-11, 11-13 and 13-11 win in a tightly contested tilt.
Mustafa Ayaz drew into the lineup for Tufts at the No. 6 spot and cruised to an 11-5, 11-7 and 11-5 win over Arin Khot, while
Aarav Gill posted an 11-4, 11-6 and 11-6 win over Rio Schafer at the No. 7 position. First-year
Ilya Kipkalov needed four games to earn his triumph, but he bounced back from a first-game loss to chalk up a 7-11, 12-10, 11-5 and 11-3 win at the No. 8 position.
Shivin Kumar was also a four-game winner on Saturday, posting a 14-16, 11-9, 14-12 and 11-9 win over Eesa Huq at the No. 9 position.
At the top, sophomore
Santiago Medina Carrillo swept Daniel Deverill 11-4, 12-10 and 11-5, though Western was able to earn wins at No. 2 and No. 3.
The Jumbos will return to action at Cornell Sunday, battling the No. 10 Big Red in a match-up of teams back-to-back in the rankings.
